I love this time of year, it’s a celebration of all that has unfolded during the past 12 months and an opportunity to let go of the old to make way for the new year…
Start off with the intention of letting go of that which is no longer useful and receiving that which is nourishing and restorative.
I regularly see clients who struggle with this practice and this can manifest in the physical form of problems with the digestive tract- particularly the large intestine (Colon). Held tension and waste in the bowel is something I see regularly. This buildup of toxic waste will effect overall health and create discomfort in the body (pain, inflammation, skin issues, fatigue etc) When stress is at the root, then the nervous system needs to be balanced (think tonic herbs). When diet, environmental toxicity and gut inflammation are the root then we need therapeutic treatments like Colonics and nutritional support to get things moving.. In most cases a blend of two is most successful;
Part of my learning this year has been working more with the breath. If there is stored tension in the abdomen, it is likely that there is some deficient breathing. I notice this particularly with those with something “stuck” in an energetic way. When we bring our attention back to the breath and just notice what it is doing when we are in certain situations and remember to breathe!! Big belly breaths in through the mouth into the belly and ribcage and out through the mouth or nose – whatever feels good for you. Deep belly breathing creates circulation around the organs and allows them to move more freely. It dispels toxicity in more ways than one and can help release old emotions providing deep relief and relaxation.
Remember the more you breath- the more you come alive.
